Bristol International Airport website continues to evolve
We’re all pretty chuffed with the latest set of improvements we’ve made to the Bristol International Airport (BIA) website.
The primary brief was to upgrade the content management system (CMS) to allow BIA to carry advertising from key partners such as airlines and tour operators. This meant re-jigging the design and we took the opportunity to give the home page a bit of makeover whilst we were at it.
You’ll notice that the screen resolution of the home page has gone up to the larger 1024x768 dimensions, which means that we’ve got a bit more room to play with. The rest of the site will gradually follow suit over the coming 6-12 months.
We’ve also taken another look at the information architecture on the home page, and as a result bubbled up a few more prominent links to popular pages on the site (e.g. the destinations map and flight search).
Other improvements include:
- an upgraded Flash “hero slot”, which gives in-house staff at BIA the ability to add rotating promotions via the CMS. The new hero slot is bigger than its predecessor and features controls that allow users to pause the rotation of promotions.
- a brand new tabbed set of quick links through to car parking and the executive lounge booking engines.
- more room for special offers and promotions.
This latest upgrade follows hot on the heels of the launch of a dedicated mobile version of the BIA website and there are lots more plans in the pipeline for 2008.
